MICHAEL TUCKMAN
A veteran of the independent film industry for nearly fifteen years, Michael Tuckman began his career at The Cinema Guild, where he was hired to start the company's theatrical distribution division. He served as Director of Feature Distribution for nearly four years, releasing films including THE INTERVIEW and A LOVE DIVIDED, each of which played in over 100 theaters nationwide. Tuckman also secured retail home video distribution and domestic and foreign television deals for these and other titles while overseeing the feature film acquisitions process as well.

Tuckman went on to serve as the Vice President of Theatrical Sales for THINKFilm, where he was one of the original executives and remained with the company for over seven years. At THINKFilm, he was responsible for the planning and implementation of all theatrical release strategies, including the breakout successes of Oscar-winning and nominated films including SPELLBOUND, BORN INTO BROTHELS, TAXI TO THE DARK SIDE and MURDERBALL as well as the box office smashes THE ARISTOCRATS, BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOUR'RE DEAD and THEN SHE FOUND ME. Throughout his tenure there he was the only salesperson on staff, handling 250-300 print releases and bringing in an average of $10-$15 million in box office per year.

After THINKFilm closed their New York offices, Tuckman held a similar position at Senator Distribution, directing and overseeing the 500 print release of THE INFORMERS, before going on to open his own distribution services company, mTuckman media, Inc. At his current venture, he provides theatrical booking services to independent film distributors including Paladin, Elephant Eye, Variance and Entertainment One, while also releasing films directly with filmmakers under their own banner. Most notably, he handled the Zipporah Films release of Frederick Wiseman's LA DANSE: THE PARIS OPERA BALLET, bringing the film to nearly 150 theaters across the country and accumulating a gross of upwards of $600,000 - all on a spend at just a fraction of that number.

Tuckman is a member of the Motion Picture Bookers Club and is on the Honorary Committee of Showeast. He has served as a panelist and juror at multiple film festivals and is a frequent participant in film industry panel discussions.
